Hi, my name is John Rickson. I’ve been a client of WKM for about two years, and Adrian Mee is my adviser.
I felt that the decisions I needed to make regarding my finances going into retirement weren’t straightforward. I’d never used an IFA before; however, in this case, I just recognised that it was getting to the point where I would really value a professional’s advice.
They were actually already an adviser for the accountant that my wife and I use for our family business, and Adrian came on a recommendation from that accountant. The advantage for us was that we had both an accountant and a financial adviser who understood each other as well as us and our finances.
When I first got in touch with WKM, I was trying to select the most appropriate IFA for my needs. I interviewed two other IFAs as well as Adrian and concluded that there was a personal advantage to my choosing Adrian and WKM. I also got along really well with him; he’s very personable, and I felt very confident that the advice that he was going to be giving me was sound.
I feel as though I’m dealing with a group of highly professional individuals who give me a personalised service. I also don’t feel lost, as I could have been in an organisation with many thousands of customers.
The best thing about working with WKM is that I feel like I’ve got a relationship with an adviser who understands me, my wife, and our finances and is also keeping an eye on whether we’re on track to achieve the financial goals that we’ve agreed on with him.
I’m just going into retirement, and I feel as though there are still some financial decisions to be made. I’m confident that it will be an open conversation between Adrian and myself, and that the decisions that I make will be well thought through and the correct ones.
The three words that I’d use to describe Adrian and WKM are: professional, knowledgeable, and friendly.
In the time that I’ve worked with Adrian, the best piece of advice for me has been that he’s enabled me to get a significant benefit from a relatively large bond that I had invested, and I’ve avoided paying unnecessary tax on the income from that bond in this current tax year.
I’d recommend Adrian and WKM because of the personal service that they provide and their general knowledge and awareness of financial markets and where to best invest your money.
